Everything you need to prepare for the Election this August.
VOTER RESOURCES
WHY VOTE?
YOUR VOTE MATTERS
No, really! More than any other level of government, races in local elections are often decided by just a few votes. That means your vote really could change who wins, and that's all the more reason to exercise your right to vote.
YOUR LIFE CHANGES
Local government can decide
on the funding for local infrastructure, schools, parks,
and more.
If you use community green spaces, have children in public school, take advantage of the local libraries, or frequently commute on local roads, then your day-to-day life could change depending on who wins an election
USE IT OR LOSE IT
When it comes to Voter's Rights, the less we exercise our right to vote, the more that the people in power will try to erode and take away those rights.
If we don't choose to vote in local, state, and federal elections now, then future generations right to vote will be at risk.
WHEN TO VOTE?
COUNTY PRIMARY
Sumner County will hold primary elections for races with multiple candidates from the same party. Those primary elections will be held on Tuesday, May 5th 2026.

HOW TO VOTE?
ELECTION DAY VOTING
This is the big day to exercise your right! The majority of in-person voting happens on Election day but there are a few different voting times this year, so make sure you know when you need to vote! You can find out when, and where, to vote here.
EARLY VOTING
Early voting is a two week period when three locations in Sumner County open for in-person voting, before Election Day.
If you're planning to vote in person, early voting is the most convenient way to vote! Learn more about times and locations here.
MAIL-IN VOTING
Mail in voting is also known as Absentee voting and it allows for voters that meet certain requirements to vote via a mail-in ballot. Find out more about the requirements here.
